The Role: AI Software Engineer

In this role you will act as a leader, maybe even the founder of a new movement within our organization. Your work will help colleagues connect more with customers and build stronger relationships, while enabling new AI-driven processes and products”.
This role will be mission critical and is high impact. In other words, you will be an entrepreneur, establishing a new way of working, setting standards and protocols and being the motor for its’ success by involving and motivating others

As an AI Software Engineer, you will the leading architect of the AI and data landscape within D&S Group. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will build, integrate, and maintain smart, scalable AI solutions from the ground up, moving our organization toward a data-driven future.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, develop, and deploy AI and (Gen)AI solutions;
  • Contribute to building a modern AI and data platform from the ground up;
  • Develop scalable, production-ready AI services and applications;
  • Process, analyze, and prepare data for AI use cases;
  • Integrate AI models into existing systems and business applications;
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders;
  • Support the improvement of data architecture and platform design;
  • Apply best practices in security, compliance, and responsible AI;
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI across the organization;
  • Continuously experiment with and adopt new AI tools and technologies.

Who are you?

  • A results-driven AI Software Engineer with hands-on experience building robust full-stack applications;

  • you enjoy invention,have an builder mentality and are driven by curiosity and experimentation;

  • a strong focus on software engineering: designing, building, integrating, and maintaining solutions;

  • ervaring met AI-assisted development workflows en het inzetten van AI-tools in het ontwikkelproces;

  • you like building from scratch as well as polishing in production.

Technicall skills/Stack:

  • Backend: Python (FastAPI, scikit-learn)

  • Frontend: React (Tailwind, AG-UI) or htmx

  • Infra: CI/CD (Docker, Actions, Azure), Redis (RQ), PostgreSQL (incl Vector store)

  • Currently re-evaluating Agentic AI libraries such as LangChain, LangGraph, PydanticAI

  • AI-assisted development

  • rapid prototyping → production

  • A natural affinity for data processing and AI/ML workflows.

  • “working with LLM APIs and self-hosted models”

  • nice to have: Experience with or enthusiasm for fine-tuning and running LLMs on your own infrastructure (cloud or local hardware).
